Here we depart from the first three praxes, suitable for any and all of Our Folk to engage, and enter the territory reserved only for the most dedicated who are not faint of heart. Take heed! These next three praxes are not recommended for beginners. One should first have a thoroughly grounded Weltanschauung, have made a thorough and objective study of classic Western ceremonialism, and have a strong personal connection with our ancestral Gods, before undertaking any of these. It is also highly recommended the student/aspirant make contact with Us prior to their commencement.
The Call to which we refer is the 19th Enochian Key, or "Call," used to open the thirty aethyrs delineated in the Enochian system of ritual magick. Few throughout history operating in the spiritual realms have successfully opened and/or "visited" all thirty aethyrs, or left record of doing so. Of those recorded, the sad legacy of one Aleister Crowley—a degenerate occult figurehead from the early 20th C.—is the most widely known. While his record does offer some significant contributions to the scant literature on this subject, almost in spite of himself, it should be noted that the Few & Secret consider his actual Work in this area largely a failure, for numerous reasons evident in his record.
For Our purposes, We use the Call daily to open the second aethyr, ARN, and on certain occasions as needed, the first aethyr, LIL. The ruling Deities of these aethyrs are ancient and precede the ancestral Gods of our Folk, yet We have found Them no less invested in the ultimate outcomes for our people, and in some cases even more active and attentive. They have been waiting, and Working, with and for Us, for a very long time.
Der Anruf is performed as a formal ritual, in a dedicated area with a working altar, set aside for such purposes. Light candles and incense; wear sacred vestments or jewelry if desired. One begins using whatever cross-quarter-style opening that is familiar and comfortable, to "set and sacralize" the working area. After this opening, it is customary to anoint oneself unto the Work with an appropriate substance, before delivering the Call with potent, measured vigor. Deliver the Call by singing, chanting, or "vibrating" it in full, in the Enochian language, where the name of the Aethyr being approached is inserted into the appropriate place in the first line.
Delivering the Call itself will generally takes approximately six to seven minutes. Take time to do it properly; do not rush it. For this, there are several different methods of pronounciation put forth by various scholars, of greater or lesser merit, in the Enochian system. The student should investigate these independently, and is encouraged to disregard the Golden Dawn approach and aim for something closer to Laycock's. We have found the most straightforward, as-written approach to be the most effective in Our Work.
A follow-up recitation in English may be helpful to beginners, to aid in developing awareness of the meaning associated with these words. It is acceptable to use a "cheat sheet" in the early stages of this Work, though it is recommended to both memorize the Call phonetically and develop an effective pattern for its vocal delivery. Repetition should build both confidence in its delivery and increasingly effective results. The praxis may even yield new insights into the meaning of various phrases therein, not included in the English translation but not incongruent with the whole, either.
Upon completion of the Call, one should obtain a comfortable physical position and allow the mind to enter a visionary state: guarded yet consciously receptive. It is appropriate for newcomers to introduce themselves formally to any presence encountered there, offering your name, station or affiliation, interest, etc. and asking likewise. Seek productive contact with the Throne and those in occupation of it. Be neither shy nor arrogant; treat the situation as you would when visiting an earthly Dignitary. As a suggested course, it is never the wrong time to ask, "How may I best serve the Throne (or das Ewige Reich)?"
Remain for as long as the experience persists and contact is present and viable. If you experience nothing at first, do not be dismayed. Request an audience and compose the mind to quietude thereafter, repeating only every few moments if there seems to be no response. This is not a situation where multiplying requests gets you heard, nor one where threats and posturing avails. One must show oneself worthy of the attentions one seeks, and respect, patience and persistence matter.
Keeping a living record of this Work is indispensible. Pay close attention to all that is seen, heard, felt or thought during the "float" in the Aethyr. Write down everything as it transpires, or else immediately afterward, or else note critical points of the experience as they unfold and fill in gaps later from memory. This record will reflect your progress, and enable you to reference key points in previous experiences as these develop more fully with practice.
